Life tips

Use a program like TenClips for holding multiple things you want to copy/paste.

For anyone who does a lot of computer work, this one is a must. TenClips (Windows only, there seem to be plenty of similar applications though) will hold up to 10 things in a clipboard simultaneously. Simply press ctrl +1, ctrl +2 etc. to assign the different items you want to copy. I end up using it everyday for various tasks. Needing to copy/paste different sections from an article or document and not wanting to flip back and forth between the pages. Needing to save an address, name, or snippet of info for later? Just assign it to "2" and then you can continue as normal and still copy/paste other things in the meanwhile.

Easy tip to help clean up broken glass #2.

This is an easy tip that everyone most likely has the supplies to accomplish. If you shatter glass on a hard floor take a piece of sliced sandwich bread (Wonderbread etc) and after you pick up all of the large chunks of glass press the piece of bread down on the floor in the general area. The bread easily picks up all of those little invisible shards!

When paying with a credit card at restaurant and leaving cash for tip, indicate so on the tip line instead of a zero or slash.

This will let the server and establishment know cash was left on the table. Helpful especially if someone steals the cash before the server gets there.

Create an 'unsubscribe' label to easily kill junk emails in more convenient sessions.

It's easy to delete newsletters and ad emails because it's much faster at the time than going to the trouble to unsubscribe. Instead label junk emails 'unsubscribe' and archive them. Then, once a week take 15 min to unsubscribe to all emails labeled for that week. You will reduce your email management time significantly following this practice.

If someone offers to pick up the tab, instead of arguing with them about it, offer to cover the tip.

Them: "I'll take care of this." You: "Oh, that's very generous of you, thank you. How about I cover the tip?"Taking this approach allows you to avoid the awkward "No, I insist" back-and-forth. It takes a little of the expense off the payer but still allows them to make a generous gesture.

Household painting tip | When painting for multiple days......

When painting for multiple days, you can put your wet paint brushes in ziplc bags and place them in the fridge overnight. At those cool temperatures the paint will never dry. Take them out the next day, let them warm up to room temp, and you're ready to paint. This same thing can be done between coats if it's taking a bit long for each to dry.

Beat the New Year Karma Rush by posting that tip about "putting each good thing that happens to you in a jar" in October.

Start 2015 off with an empty jar and fill it with notes of good things that happen. On new years eve, empty it and see what awesome stuff happened that year.

Clean Your Computer (Safely)

There are certain chemicals you should never use on or anywhere near your computer, including:

  • Acetone
  • Ethyl alcohol
  • Toluene
  • Ethyl acid
  • Ammonia
  • Methyl chloride When cleaning your computer, avoid using paper products, don’t use harsh chemicals and never spray product directly on the screen. Here’s a safe and easy way to clean your computer:
  • To clean the keyboard, pour some white vinegar on a microfiber cloth and scrub the keyboard thoroughly.
  • Use a cotton swab soaked in vinegar to clean areas that need more attention.
  • To clean your screen, take a microfiber cloth and wipe gently in a circular motion.
  • Apply a mixture of light water and vinegar if necessary.
