Configure Tracking Prevention

Microsoft Edge comes with powerful tracking prevention features. It allows the Edge browser to limit harmful trackers, minimize ad personalization, and more. To utilize this feature, go to Settings and head to the ‘Privacy, search, and services’ tab, and set Tracking prevention to Strict. You can add exceptions for specific websites later if a website you frequently visit breaks after using strict tracking prevention. This is one of the most useful Edge tips and tricks you need to use to bolster your privacy online.

Enable Sleeping Tabs

The first Microsoft Edge tip we think you should know about is sleeping tabs. Microsoft Edge recently gained a sleeping tabs feature that automatically puts inactive tabs to sleep to minimize resource usage. The Redmond giant boasts that the sleeping tabs feature reduces CPU and memory usage by 37% and 32%, respectively. To use sleeping tabs in Microsoft Edge, go to Settings, switch to the “System” tab from the left sidebar, and toggle on the ‘Save resources with sleeping tabs’ option. You can read our linked in-depth guide to learn how to effectively use this feature.

Microsoft Word Tricks and Tips-Show Hidden Characters

Working on a complex with different columns, styles, and formats; editing can be a tedious exercise. To see what’s going while formatting your document, it’s advisable you make all the invisible marks, including spaces, hard returns, tabs, and soft returns visible. In Windows, you can achieve this by pressing Ctrl + Shift-8; for Mac, use Command-8.

Use Auto-Update date and Time

Do you have a document that you use again and again by only updating a few key details? If the document includes time and or date, one of the nifty tricks is to allow Word to update the date automatically. To insert a date that updates automatically, follow the procedure below;

  • From the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Date & Time
  • From the Date & Time dialog box, select the format you like.
  • Next, select the Update automatically checkbox. The date will be inserted as a field and will update automatically.

Highlight a Sentence with a Click

To highlight an entire sentence, hold down Ctrl Key + Windows. If you’re are a Mac user, use the Command Key and click on the beginning of the sentence and Word will take care of the rest.

Generate Lorem Ipsum Random Text to Your Document

Do you want to add some random text to your document? Word has you covered. You can do this easily using Microsoft tricks and tips. To do this, type: =lorem (P, I); and replace “P” with the number of paragraphs you want, and “I” with the number of sentences you need. Once you have defined the variable (P, I), hit enter to generate the text. As well, you can use random Office documentation “gobbledygook” as the primary source material for your place filer. To do this, use the equation =rand (P, I).

Determine Your Document Readability Statistics

Apart from judging your spelling and grammar, Word can determine the complexity of writing style. For instance, does your writing style meet the comprehension of the 5th grade of someone with a post-grad degree? Word uses the Flesh Reading Ease test to calculate your score on a 100-point scale. The higher the percentage on the scale, the easier it’s to understand. In most circumstances, Office documentation suggests that the score should be above 60. Besides, the Flesh-Kincaid Grade Level test indicates which US grade level your text is written for; in any scenario, you should always aim for 7.0 to 8.0 according to Microsoft documentation. To activate this feature; follow the procedure below:

  • Go to File > Options
  • Select Proofing
  • Under When correcting spelling and grammar in Word, check the box; Check grammar with spelling.
  • Next select Show readability statistics. After enabling this feature, open a file that you want to check, press F7 or go to Review > Spelling and Grammar. When Word finishes checking grammar and spelling, it displays the information about the reading level of your document.

Don't Leave Your Truck Behind

This is my personal tip from a hard lesson learned: if you have your own truck and accept a quick job, just realize that your truck will be left behind wherever you last drove it: it won't follow you to the destination of your quick job. So if you drove your truck to San Diego and then took a quick job from San Diego to Albuquerque, you'll be hopping into the companies' truck and making the trip. When you finish, the game will put you back in San Diego, into your own truck. So don't expect to pick up your own truck in Albuquerque! If you want to always drive your own truck, pick jobs from the Freight Market instead of Quick Jobs.

Upgrade Your Garage, Buy a Truck, Then Hire a Driver

The next big milestones in the game are upgrading your garage and hiring your first driver to work for you! However, these steps have to be done in exact order. You first have to upgrade your garage (which will cost you $180,000 the first time, then $100,000 every time after), then you must buy a spare truck for your driver to use (failing to have a truck for the driver will result in your driving quitting). After that, you can hire a driver and have them working for you! Having drivers is a great way to earn residual income. And eventually, you can have multiple garages and drivers in different states!
